Youngtherm – Glass Wool Insulation

Description

Youngtherm Glass Wool is a lightweight, flexible insulation material manufactured from glass wool fibres with a non-combustible binder. It is designed primarily for use in flat roof ceiling systems, as well as new construction and retrofit applications.

The range is available in Unfaced Glass Wool for standard thermal and acoustic insulation, as well as Aluwool White Faced and Aluwool Foil Faced options where a faced insulation product is preferred.

The insulation provides excellent resistance to heat transfer and effective sound absorption, making it suitable for improving the comfort and energy efficiency of buildings.

Youngtherm Glass Wool is non-hygroscopic and moisture resistant, does not support mould, bacteria or vermin growth, and is odourless and chemically inert. It is also compatible with common building materials and will not corrode metals.

Thermal Performance

Youngtherm Glass Wool has a thermal conductivity of approximately 0.039 W/m·K.

The thicker the insulation, the greater the resistance to heat transfer. Choosing the correct thickness will depend on the building design, roof construction and required thermal performance.

Application Notes

For roof applications, measure the spacing between the roof trusses before installation. The insulation can be cut to size and installed between the trusses.

For best results:

• Keep insulation dry before installation.
• Store flat, covered and off the ground.
• Avoid excessive compression, bending or pressure.
• Allow compressed insulation to recover its intended thickness after unpacking.
• Cut around electrical wiring and recessed fittings where required.
• Use suitable off-cuts around exposed pipes and difficult areas.
• Follow the recommended installation requirements for the specific roofing system.
