Description
Knauf Ceiling Insulation is made from high performance glass mineral wool. Glass mineral wool consists of 80% high-quality recycled materials – sand or recycled glass, with limestone and soda ash added before the mixture is melted in a furnace.
The molten glass is spun into millions of fine ‘wool’ strands and bound into mats with the revolutionary bio-based ECOSE® Technology. The density of the product determines its thermal insulation value.
The Combi Cut rolls are perforated to suit standard ceiling joist spacings, ensuring minimal waste and fast installation. The 63mm Acoustic Cut variant is specifically designed for sound insulation in partition walls and ceilings.
Key Features:
-
Superior thermal and acoustic insulation performance
-
Non-combustible and fire-resistant
-
Soft, easy-to-handle, and low-dust material
- No itch, no smell
-
Made with ECOSE® Technology – formaldehyde-free binder
-
Combi Cut design allows for multiple width options
-
Long-lasting, rot-proof, and odorless
-
SABS-approved and environmentally friendly
Benefits
- No added formaldehyde (a common ingredient in other glass wool products that can cause irritation and allergic reactions)
- No added artificial colors or bleaches
- Energy savings – ECOSE® Technology binding consumes 70% less energy compared to traditional formaldehyde-based binders and reduces CO2 emissions by up to 25%
- Durability – the insulation is rot-proof, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mold or bacteria.
Applications:
-
Ceiling insulation for homes and offices
-
Acoustic wall and partition insulation
-
Energy-efficient retrofit and new construction projects
-
Use above ceilings, between joists, or within drywall cavities
Fire Classification
- Knauf ceiling insulation is rated EUROCLASS A1 under BS EN 13501-1, as well as A/A1/1** in accordance with SANS 428:2012, SANS 10177-5 A (non-combustible) and SANS 10177-10 A1 (no flame spread). a Fire test report is available on request
Available Variants:
| Variant | Type | Thickness | Application | R-Value (Approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 50mm Combi Cut | Thermal | 50mm | Ceiling | 1.05 |
| 63mm Acoustic Cut | Acoustic | 63mm | Wall & Ceiling | 1.25 |
| 75mm Combi Cut | Thermal | 75mm | Ceiling | 2.10 |
| 100mm Combi Cut | Thermal | 100mm | Ceiling | 2.50 |

(R-values are indicative and vary slightly by batch and temperature.)
What is R-Value?
The R-Value is a measure of how well a material resists heat flow. In simpler terms, it tells you how good insulation is at slowing down the transfer of heat. The higher the R-Value, the better the insulation at keeping heat inside in winter or outside in summer.
-
Unit: m²·K/W (square meters kelvin per watt) in SI units, sometimes just written as “R-value” in building materials.
-
Higher R = more resistance = better insulation.
